Plauto coordinates the Strategic Negotiation and Litigation department of the law firm of which he is a senior partner (SAPC), acting mainly on national structural contentions at Supreme and High Court cases. He defends the interests of national and multinational clients in a variety of industries such as cash-in-transit and security companies, factoring, financial services, fintechs, startups, agrobusiness, supermarket retail chains, food and support services, food franchising, Federations and Employers' Unions, among others. He manages a team of ten members, forty-five associates, and external consultants.
He is also responsible for the development of legal theses, procedural strategies, drawing of legal opinions as well as advisory services and legal counsel in corporate, administrative and contractual law. He coordinates complex multinational deals, involving the drafting of elaborated multilingual contracts and comprehensive national due diligence procedures.
He has gathered comprehensive experience in managing corporate governance matters in several jurisdictions. He has worked as a Legal Director of a Legal Tech Company present in more than 12 Latin American Countries, and was in charge of the assessment and management of legal risks, legal and regulatory compliance, intellectual property issues, drafting, reviewing and negotiating international and local contracts with the public administration at the legislative and judicial branches.
He is the author of four books and has produced several articles, both independently and co-authored. He has received sixteen national and international awards and distinctions in the fields of law, socio-legal research, education, and culture.
He works as a visiting lecturer and researcher for several institutions in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and Brazil.
As a legal social scientist, law makes little sense to him when isolated from societal affairs. Within this line of research, in Brazil, he teaches the modules “From hermeneutic challenges to artificial intelligence: major issues and structural paradigms of the judiciary through the lens of the social sciences, literature, and philosophy of law” and “Socio-legal Research Methodology” at the National Law School for the Training and Improvement of Judges (ENFAM) of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). He also teaches “Ethics, Morals, and Language in Institutional Practices” at the Postgraduate programme in Compliance, Ethics, and Social Governance of the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC/Minas).
In Argentina, among other institutions, he is a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) where he collaborates with the Catedra Bercholc of Theory of State as an Assistant Lecturer in the modules Justice and Politics: the Supreme Court and political power through constitutional control; Public Opinion, Media, and Democracy; New Legal and Political Challenges for the State and Law and Politics through Film. He is also a researcher at UBA on the Ubacyt project on the implementation of public hearings in the Supreme Courts, Constitutional Courts, and Supreme Constitutional Courts of Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Contemporary Public Law (RDPC), of the Journal of Public Administration Law (REDAP), of the Argentinean Journal of Constitutional Justice, and of Journal of the Judiciary School of Piauí, Brazil. Plauto acts as an external expert evaluator for the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) research projects evaluation committee as he is also the co-editor-in-chief and columnist for the Journal of Administrative Law (JDA).
